Jamun Sharbat Recipe by Asad Memon

Ingredients:

-Jamun (Java plum) washed 1kg

-Water 2 Cups

-Sugar 500g

-Water 1 & ½ Cup

-Purple food color as required (Optional)

-Kala Namak (Black salt) ½ tsp

-Zeera (Cumin seeds) roasted & powdered ½ tsp

-Lemon juice 2-3 tbs

-Tatri (Citric acid) ½ tsp

-Ice (Crushed)

 

Direction:

-In a wok, add java plum, water, turn on flame, and bring it to boil.

-Cover & cook on medium flame for 10-12 minutes.

-Remove the cover, mix well, turn off the flame & let it cool completely.

-Place muslin cloth & sieve on a bowl, add boiled java plum, mash it with the help of hand until seeds are separated from pulp.

-Now squeeze the muslin cloth to take out all the juices.

-In a wok, add sugar, water, turn on flame, cook on medium for 5-6 minutes or until sugar dissolves in water.

-Add java plum concentrate, mix well, add purple food colour (Optional), bring it to boil, remove scum, cook on medium flame for 5-6 minutes.

-Add black salt, cumin, lemon juice, mix well, turn off the flame.

-Add citric acid & mix well, let it cool completely, Jamun Sharbat is ready! Yield: 800ml

-Can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 months in refrigerator.

-In a serving glass, add crushed ice, ¼ glass jamun sharbat & ¾ glass of water mix well & serve!
